Port Willunga is not one of the named exercise areas. Dogs are on a leash from 10am to 8pm while daylight saving operates, and off leash at other times.

The 2015 foreshore resolution, still published in the by-law compilation, puts a leash on all foreshore from 10am to 8pm when daylight saving is in operation, excluding the named exercise areas and the prohibited areas. Port Willunga is not one of those exclusions. Outside those hours, and during standard time, the by-law note allows off leash under effective control.
- Daylight saving: on a leash 10:00am to 8:00pm, otherwise off leash
- 10:00am–8:00pm: on a leash. Outside those times: off leash.
- Standard time: off leash all day
- All day: off leash. Outside those times: off leash.
dogs must be under effective control by means of a leash between the hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on any day when daylight savings is in operation on all foreshore areas within the Council’s area excluding.

- Hooded plover signs are a place rule: dogs are prohibited within 20 metres of a breeding site and on a leash within a signed on-leash zone. Jetties are prohibited. This clock cannot see signs. The foreshore list is the 8 September 2015 resolution, still published in the council’s by-law compilation. The 16 July 2024 resolution did not revoke it.
