During Adelaide daylight saving, dogs on Somerton Beach must be on a lead between 10am and 8pm. The plan and the by-law do not say what applies outside those hours.

Holdfast Bay’s dogs page says that during daylight saving, dogs on the beach must be on a lead between 10am and 8pm. The Animal Management Directions Plan 2022-2026 says the same restriction, consistent with neighbouring beaches, and that by-laws require dogs to be leashed near hooded plover breeding sites. Neither the plan nor By-law No. 5 says the beach is off leash outside 10am to 8pm, or during standard time. This status is on a leash from 10am to 8pm while Adelaide is on daylight saving, and check with council at every other time.

- Adelaide daylight saving is UTC+10:30. Standard time is UTC+9:30. South Australia starts and ends daylight saving on the same Sundays as Melbourne.
- The Animal Management Directions Plan 2022-2026 repeats the 10am to 8pm daylight-saving leash and does not say the beach is off leash outside those hours, or during standard time. By-law No. 5 lets Council resolve on-leash areas and does not itself set this clock.
- Where signs mark a hooded plover breeding area, dogs must always be on a leash. That is a place on the sand, not a clock.
