Rules can change at short notice. Always check the signs at the beach and the council's page before you go.

The published rule is not complete enough to calculate a live status. Use the council link and the signs on the beach.

Check with council

Surf Coast Shire says that over peak visitor periods, including summer and the Easter weekend, timeshare restrictions operate on some popular beaches. Dogs are not allowed in certain areas from 9am to 7pm. The page links image maps for Torquay, Jan Juc and Anglesea, and a shire-wide regulations PDF. On 27 October 2026 that PDF returned HTTP 403 and the page text still does not say which dates count as summer, or which stretch is this beach. Hooded plover signs can also close sand at short notice. There is no live status.

Council’s words
